Takashi Murakami at the Chateau of Versailles

After the success of Jeff Koons, then Xavier Veilhan, Takashi Murakami invades the Chateau of Versailles with his Japanese candy colored pop art. Provoking a tension between the historic baroque of Versailles and his saturated manga sculptures, he reactivates the passion and the opulence of Louis XIV. In a fitting end to the opening show, his friend and also featuring artist to Versailles, Pharrell Williams joined N.E.R.D and Uffie to perform a tribute to Murakami at L’Orangerie. Murakami Versailles runs until 12th December 2010 at the Château de Versailles, Versailles. Photo Annabel Fernandes
