Kiki Smith and Deborah Gans invest in Eldridge Street Synagogue

New York’s Lower East Side Eldridge Street Synagogue debuted a stained glass window created by artist Kiki Smith in collaboration with architect Deborah Gans. Smith’s recent solo exhibition at the Pace Gallery showcased the artist’s interest in stained glass as a medium to support her provocative perspective. With respect for its religious setting, the starry window design brings a contemporary art approach to a space originally designed in 1887. The window by Kiki Smith and Deborah Gans is a permanent artwork on view at Eldridge Street Synagogue, 12 Eldridge Street, New York. Text Juliana Balestin
