Los Penetrados

Los Penetrados (The Penetrated) is a 45-minute film elaborated in eight acts by the Spanish artist Santiago Serra. Staged geometrically, ten couples have sex in versatile position facing mirrors. In this allegoric porn performance act, each participant embodies a social position according to gender, class, race and have a determined place in Serra’s imposed economy paradigm. The work will be show from September 9th until October 23rd, 2010 at Team Gallery, 83 Grand Street, New York. Text Pierre-Alexandre Mateos

A sneak preview of Max Snow’s upcoming show, Its Only Castles Burning, at Art+Art Gallery. Snow draws inspiration from Neil Young’s song Don’t Let It Bring You Down realizing that your personal life can be in flames but in the scale of the world’s suffering it is insignificant over time. Typical of his recent photographs, Snow employs the power of contrast setting his models against black studio walls alongside extravagant props including bears, wolves and a Native American headdress. Public Art Fund

In collaboration with Yvonne Force Villareal’s Public Art Fund, Yoshitomo Nara created two large outdoor sculptures situated on New York City’s Park Avenue. White Ghost is meant to recall traditional Japanese sculptures placed as guardians outside shrines. Nara successfully combines playfulness and monumentality with smiling glossy white figures on top of severe stone bases. On view at both 67th and 70th Streets, until November 5, 2010, New York.
